Stage Summary

Stage 6 - January 28 - Rawang-Putrajaya (107km)

This should be a stage for the peloton to recover after two hard days of climbing, but it could also provide a mouthwatering opportunity for the underdogs who saved up the energy to attack for their own piece of glory on this stage that heads into the administrative capital of Putrajaya.
The stage begins in the bustling industrial town of Rawang and the peloton heads right into a category 4 climb after just seven kilometres in Bukit Kancing. The Tour's procession then circles the outlines of Kuala Lumpur, passing through Batu Caves before heading to Ulu Klang, where the first intermediate sprint of the day awaits them after 26.3km of racing. They then charge on towards Ampang, Sungai Besi and Cheras, before negotiating through some undulations heading towards the second intermediate sprint after 54.6km in Kajang, the town famous for Malaysia's most popular delicacy, satay.
Heading towards Putrajaya, the peloton will have to keep in mind a new route towards the finish. This time around the race passes the finish line at the Palace of Justice for but on the opposing side of the road where the third intermediate sprint is located at Menara KBS, home of the race organisers. They push on towards the climb around the Putrajaya International Convention Centre which is set as a category 4 climb, before heading back down the back towards the Palace of Justice for the finish. A bunch sprint finish should be expected, but a different result entirely could spoil those plans if the undulations along the route do play a part.
